Additional steps for admitted students
Set up your KU Online ID and email address
Log in at this link and follow the instructions to obtain your assigned KU online ID and email address, set up account security, and create additional email aliases. You'll need your 7-digit student ID number (KUID) — not the username you used to apply online — you can find it at admissions.ku.edu/status.
Expect a call from a KU Navigator
Your first point of contact will be a phone call from a KU Navigator — a dedicated staff member who will schedule appointments to help set up your KU account and associated software. Your KU Navigator will also connect you with your advisor. Together, you and your advisor will discuss your academic goals and the current standing of your credits. From there, they will determine your enrollment preparedness, and whether further advising may be necessary.
File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The FAFSA will be available starting Oct. 1 at studentaid.gov. You must file the FAFSA to be considered for federal loans, grants, work-study, and some state and university aid. To qualify for financial aid with limited funds, file your FAFSA as soon as possible. The priority date is Feb. 1 for fall admits. KU’s school code is 001948.
Plan for on-campus housing
You can begin to apply for on-campus housing in November! If you complete the Housing & Residence Life application by January 15, 2026, you’ll qualify for the initial room selection lottery group when room selection begins in May. Payment or deferral of the enrollment deposit is required by May 1 to guarantee on-campus housing.
Register for Transfer Orientation
You'll attend transfer Orientation before the semester starts. For transfer students, KU offers sessions online or in-person to prepare you for classes.
Submit final transcripts and test scores
After you graduate, you’ll need to have an official copy of your final high school transcript sent to the Office of Admissions one week before classes begin due to the typical processing time to receive transfer transcripts. We admit students up to the start of the semester. Transcripts must include a graduation date. If you have AP, IB, ACT, and/or SAT scores, submit these for math placement assistance.
Understandng Your Enrollment Fee
You'll see a $275 enrollment fee added to your bill after you enroll, as it is not a deposit there is no need to pay this fee upfront.
