Group Visits

We love to welcome groups to KU’s campus, but this year, protocols related to COVID-19 make assemblies impossible. If you’re interested in gathering online, we are too — just reach out with your request, and we’ll do our best to arrange an interactive info session for your group. Below, you can still find details about our typical group visits, which we’ll resume when it is safe to do so.

Our complimentary group visits include a one-hour introduction to KU or a presentation with advice on college preparation from an admissions representative. High school and transfer groups also take a one-hour walking tour of campus led by a student ambassador, based on availability.

Group visits are for groups of up to 120 students, with one chaperone required for every 10 students, or for every eight middle school students. (If you have more than 120 students, email If you have fewer than 10 students, consider our year-round visit options.)

Activities to add

While you're visiting, consider adding these activities — plan to spend about an hour on each:

For everyone:

For high school and transfer students:

As academic appointments are subject to staff and faculty availability, they must be requested at least 10 business days in advance for dates while KU classes are in session and cannot be guaranteed.

Getting to campus

We recommend you arrive 15 minutes before your group visit. Campus tours cannot be guaranteed for groups that arrive more than 15 minutes late. If you need to cancel or reschedule your group visit, contact us at least three business days in advance at or 785-864-3911.

School bus or charter bus parking
Your driver must stage the bus at Memorial Stadium (“STAD” & Yellow Lot #94 on the campus map) to avoid ticketing at the Union, or at the Lied Center (“LIED” & Yellow Lot #300 on the campus map) to avoid ticketing at the Visitor Center. Buses cannot park in the KU Visitor Center lot.

Car or van parking
You may park a car or van at the KU Visitor Center (“KUVC” & Red Lot #400 on the campus map). We will issue you a parking permit at the front desk to display on your dashboard. For group activities scheduled at the KU Memorial Union, park at the Mississippi Street Parking Garage north of the Union (“MSPK” on the campus map). We will give you a barcode to scan as you exit the garage that will validate your parking fee. (Please refer to your confirmation schedule for any additional instructions.)
