At the University of Kansas, we offer a variety of visit experiences. Whether you’re looking for a smaller, more guided visit; a large, open-house style event where you navigate campus on your own; or an event that is designed just for your academic area of interest, all of our visit experiences are designed to help you find the right fit. Some students only visit KU one time, while some visit more than once.
- Jayhawk Days are daily visits that provide a group presentation and guided campus tour with our student ambassadors. You also have the opportunity to add experiences to your day such as housing tours, academic and financial aid appointments. These visits are open to high school students and transfer students at all stages of the college search and decision process.
- Transfer Fridays are available one Friday each month. Transfer Fridays offer the same experience as a Jayhawk Day visit, but the presentation will be designed specifically for students who are interested in transferring to KU or going back to school as a non-traditional student. Transfer students interested in attending the KU Edwards Campus should consider KUEC campus tour options.
- Admitted Students Visits are similar to Jayhawk Days, but designed for students who have already been admitted to KU. These visits include a presentation with next steps, important deadlines, and resources available to new students, as well as a guided tour of campus. Admitted student visits are offered on select days during the spring semester.
- Junior Days are unique one-day visit experiences designed for high school juniors, and are offered on select dates during the spring semester. There is a $10 fee per person to attend a Junior Day. The fee covers lunch, parking, and a KU t-shirt for the student.
- Crimson & Blue Day is KU's annual fall open house held each October. Visitors create their own schedule and can attend a wide variety of sessions throughout the day, including academic presentations, housing tours, financial aid meetings, sorority and fraternity life sessions, and more. This event is self-guided.
- Rock Chalk Day is KU's annual spring open house held each February and April designed for high school juniors and sophomores. Visitors create their own schedule and can attend a wide variety of sessions throughout the day, including academic presentations, housing tours, financial aid meetings, sorority and fraternity life sessions, and more. This event is self-guided.
- Special events are offered throughout the year and typically are designed around a shared academic interest or student experience. Some of our special events include academic open houses, junior and senior scholars days with the KU Honors Program, Pre-Health Day, and Jay-Gen for first generation students.
- Rock Chalk Receptions and Winter Receptions are off-campus events held in select cities and states during the spring semester. We bring KU to you! These receptions are often held in the evenings and include a presentation and opportunity to meet with KU admissions, financial aid, and academic representatives, KU alumni, and current students.
Plan to spend at least two hours on campus for your daily visit.
The core daily visit experience includes a presentation and guided campus tour. Many students also choose to add academic appointments, housing tours or other activities, which can extend their visit. You'll receive a personalized schedule before your visit date. Yes. The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is typically available during visit days and is located in the 1502 Building.

When you select an academic interest area during registration, available academic sessions related to your interests will appear as options. Visit our Schools and Spaces page for more information about available sessions.
If you'd like to meet with more than one academic area, contact visit@ku.edu. While not every academic unit offers appointments, we'll do our best to accommodate your request.
Campus tours are mostly outdoors, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes and dressing for the weather. If it rains, ponchos will be provided.
Your student ambassador will be with you during the campus tour and can answer questions along the way. They will not be available to walk with you to additional appointments. Be sure to review your schedule before you arrive, and visit staff can help provide directions to any additional appointments you have scheduled.
Visits take place rain or shine. If severe weather or a university closure affects your visit, we'll notify you as soon as possible. During thunderstorms or heavy rain, campus tours may be conducted using shuttle buses instead of a walking route.
Yes. Our campus tour route can be adjusted to accommodate mobility needs. When registering, please share any accessibility requests so our staff can plan accordingly. If your needs change before your visit, contact us at visit@ku.edu.
Parking for daily visits and events is available in the Mississippi Street Parking Garage, directly across from the Jayhawk Welcome Center. Instructions for complimentary parking will be included in your visit confirmation email. Be sure to follow those instructions carefully. If you have trouble registering for parking, our staff can assist you when you check in. Please do not pay for parking, as we are unable to reimburse parking expenses.

There are plenty of dining options across campus. View current dining locations and hours at dining.ku.edu/hours.
Visit programs have limited capacity and often fill quickly. If your preferred date or event is full, join the waitlist as soon as possible. If a waitlist is unavailable or already full, please contact us at visit@ku.edu to check your status or explore additional visit options.

Our daily visits are only available on weekdays. Weekday visits offer the most opportunities to meet with academic departments, explore resources, and experience campus life. There may be special events offered throughout the year on weekends.
Individual guided tours outside of scheduled times may be available based on Student Ambassador availability. If a guided tour isn't available, we can provide materials for a self-guided campus tour.
You can request a signed attendance note from our staff during your visit, or email visit@ku.edu afterward. Please note that we can only verify attendance for the date of your scheduled visit.
