The University of Kansas has established a grant, based on availability of funds, to cover the admission application fee for economically disadvantaged students and a fee waiver for U.S. veterans and active duty military.
To receive a fee grant, you must meet only one of the following:
- receive an ACT/SAT fee waiver or
- participate in the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program or
- be selected as a Kauffman Scholar or
- participate in a Federal Trio program or any of these programs:
- Educational Opportunity Center
- Student Support Services
- Talent Search
- Upward Bound
- Upward Bound Math & Science
- participate in one of the following programs:
- 20/20 Leadership Program
- Expanding College Opportunities Program
- GEAR UP
- Project Discovery
How to apply
When filling out your KU admission application, let us know you are participating in one of the above eligible programs and then select the "Request Fee Waiver" option on the payment page. This option will only be available if you are participating in an eligible program.
If you are filling out a paper application, let us know which of the above eligible programs you participate in.
Military fee waiver
If you are a U.S. veteran or active duty member of the U.S. Armed Services, you are eligible for a military fee waiver. Please note this waiver only covers the application fee. For more information on benefits, contact the Lt. Gen. William K. Jones Military-Affiliated Student Center.
How to apply
When filling out your KU admission application, let us know you are a veteran or active duty military member. Then, select the "Request Fee Waiver" option on the payment page. This option will only be available if you previously listed your military experience.
To verify your veteran or military status, submit a copy of one of the following forms:
- a copy of your orders
