Admission is selective and competitive.

  • Must be admissible to KU by assured admission or individual review
  • 24+ ACT (1160+ SAT) and 3.2+ cumulative GPA
  • Complete the Architecture Interest Profile as part of the online application for admission or submit separately online at architecture.ku.edu

 

Interior Architecture & Design

Admission is selective and competitive.

  • Must be admissible to KU by assured admission or individual review
  • 24+ ACT (1160+ SAT) and 3.2+ cumulative GPA
  • Complete the Interest Profile as a part of the online application to KU or submit separately online at arcd.ku.edu/interior-architecture- design-interest-profile.
Business
  • Must be admissible to KU by assured admission or individual review
  • ACT composite: 25+ (SAT equivalent: 1200+ critical reading and math)
  • 3.25+ high school GPA
Dance

Admission is selective.

  • Must be admissible to KU by assured admission or individual review
  • An audition is required for entry into the B.F.A program
Design

Admission is selective and competitive.

  • Must be admissible to KU by assured admission or individual review
  • 21+ ACT (1060+ SAT) and 3.25+ cumulative GPA or
  • 24+ ACT (1160+ SAT) and 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Preferred: 24+ ACT (1160+ SAT) and 3.2+ cumulative GPA
  • Submit portfolio and essay for review online at design.ku.edu.
  • Priority deadline is Nov. 1. Final deadline for consideration is Feb. 1.
Education

Admission is selective.

Teacher education program

  • Apply in the fall of your sophomore year at KU
  • Letters of recommendation and essays are required

Sport management, community health, health and physical education, and exercise science programs

  • Apply by the end of your sophomore year at KU
  • Letters of recommendation and essays are required
Engineering

Admission is selective.

  • Must be admissible to the University of Kansas by assured admissions or individual review AND
  • Have a 3.0+ GPA AND
  • Have a mathematics ACT score of 22+ (or math SAT score of 540+)

Students with a 22-25 Math ACT (540-600 Math SAT) or meet eligibility requirements for Math 104 (Pre-Calculus) are admitted to the School of Engineering in the First-Year General Engineering non-degree program for undergraduate students. First-year General Engineering students have one academic year (two semesters and one summer) to transition into a degree program. Admission to a degree program is possible after one of the following is met:

  • Complete 12+ credit hours at KU, earn a "B" or higher in Math 104 (Pre-Calculus), earn a "C" or higher in all science and engineering courses, and earn a KU GPA of 2.5+ OR
  • Earn a "C" or better in MATH 125 (Calculus I), earn a "C" or better in all science and engineering courses, and earn a KU GPA of 2.5+
Health Professions

Admission is selective.

Students enter these programs after two years of undergraduate study at KU or another institution.

In all programs, prerequisite courses in biology, chemistry, and math must be completed with a grade of C or better. All grades (including courses that were repeated) are used in the calculation of the GPA. Additional requirements vary by program.

  • Clinical laboratory science, 2.70+ college GPA
  • Health information management, 2.50+ college GPA
  • Respiratory care, 2.50+ college GPA

Journalism and mass communications

Students must first meet admission requirements for the University of Kansas

Students will be considered for admission directly out of high school if they:
 
•  Admitted to KU and indicate journalism as intended major and
 •  ​Have composite 24 ACT/1160* SAT (or higher) and 3.0 GPA or
 •  21 ACT/1060 SAT (or higher) and 3.25 GPA

Music

Admission is selective.

  • Must be admissible to KU by assured admission or individual review
  • Successful completion of audition on primary instrument or voice
Nursing

Admission is selective.

Students enter these programs after two years of undergraduate study at KU or another institution.

  • 2.5+ college GPA
  • Complete prerequiste courses and
  • Submit nursing application: nursing.kumc.edu
Pharmacy

Admission is selective.

Students enter these programs after two years of undergraduate study at KU or another institution.

  • 2.5+ college GPA
  • Complete prerequisite courses
  • Submit PCAT scores
  • Submit applicant profile form at pharmacy.ku.edu
  • Submit three letters of recommendation with accompanying forms to rxadmissions@ku.edu
