Four Ways to Live at KU
KU offers 25 residential communities across four living styles: residence halls where most first-year Jayhawks live, apartment communities for more independence, cooperative scholarship halls at a reduced rate, and themed special interest communities. Every option puts you in the heart of campus, steps from dining, classes, and Jayhawk life.
Find the Right Fit
Every community, every style — compare all four and explore the halls on the KU Housing site.
Residence Halls
Where most first-year Jayhawks live
Nine halls with a variety of floor plans, close to dining centers and academic buildings — the easiest way to plug into campus resources from day one. Limited space may be available for returning students in select halls.
The halls: Corbin, Downs, Ellsworth, GSP, Hashinger, Lewis, Oswald, Self, and Templin.
Apartment Living
Privacy and independence, on campus
Four apartment communities designed primarily for upperclass, transfer, and non-traditional students — your own space, with all the advantages of living on campus.
The communities: Jayhawker Towers, Hawker Apartments, Stouffer Place, and McCarthy Hall.
Scholarship Halls
A KU tradition — and the most affordable option
Twelve tight-knit cooperative halls where residents pitch in on household duties in exchange for a reduced housing rate. Offers weigh a short essay, GPA, test scores, and financial need — apply early for priority review.
