Become a Student Ambassador

Student ambassadors are current KU students who represent the university to visiting guests and future Jayhawks.

What Do Ambassadors Do?

Ambassadors represent KU by

  • giving one-hour walking tours of campus
  • giving residence hall tours
  • being the student voice on special event discussion panels
  • answering questions and chatting with future Jayhawks

Who Are Ambassadors?

Jayhawks! Our ambassadors represent student life at KU. They have lots of different academic majors and come from a variety of states, religions, and cultures. They're involved in campus clubs and organizations — from service groups and greek life to academic organizations and student government. Many have participated in undergraduate research, studied abroad, and held internships while at KU.

Teams within our student ambassador program help recruit all types of future Jayhawks:

Multicultural Recruitment Team (MRT)

This team recruits underrepresented students to become future Jayhawks and

  • gives one-hour walking tours of campus
  • promotes diversity on campus
  • participates in on- and off-campus diversity recruitment events
  • engages with middle school and high school groups visiting campus

Transfer Ambassadors

These ambassadors have transferred to KU from a community college or four-year institution. They recruit other transfer students to become future Jayhawks and

  • give one-hour walking tours of campus
  • represent transfer students on special event discussion panels

Why Should I Become An Ambassador?

As an ambassador, you'll

  • share the KU experience and Jayhawk spirit with future Jayhawks
  • build an inclusive, welcoming community
  • cultivate curious, problem-solving, and team-oriented individuals

How Can I Become An Ambassador?

We hire students in both the fall and spring semesters. More positions are typically available during the spring semester because we have many current ambassadors who are graduating seniors. If you're ready to apply, submit your application on the KU employment website.
