Military affiliated students
Consistently ranked as a top university for veterans and military affiliated students, KU proudly educates our nation's service members and their families.
Your opportunities
Support services through the MASC
Whether you’re breaking for lunch, hosting a meeting, or settling down to study, the Lt. Gen. William K. Jones Military-Affiliated Student Center (MASC) offers a convenient, communal campus spot. The MASC also assists students with scholarships, VA benefits, and navigating the day-to-day KU experience.

Scholarships and VA benefits
As an active-duty service member, a veteran, or a military affiliated relative, you could be eligible for a number of exclusive scholarships, grants, and benefits.

Reduced tuition
If you are an out-of-state student, you could be eligible to receive in-state tuition rates if you, your spouse, or parent currently serves in the U.S. Armed Forces.

More to know before applying
Your important deadlines
Our application opens July 1. For first-time freshmen, the most important date is Dec. 1 — KU’s priority scholarship deadline, which guarantees scholarships to eligible applicants. For transfer students, the fall semester scholarship deadline is August 1 and the spring semester deadline is Dec. 1.
We waive application fees
U.S. veterans and active duty members of the U.S. Armed Services are eligible to waive their $40 domestic degree-seeking application fee.
We may not need your ACT/SAT test scores
KU is test-optional. However, your ACT and SAT scores may be used for math and English placement.
Military training may count as college credit
KU grants some college credit hours for U.S. veterans and active duty military, based on basic training and certain military courses. Please send your Joint Services Transcript (JST), CCAF Transcript and/or Air University Transcript to the University of Kansas for transfer credit review."
