Jayhawk Generations Scholarship

The Jayhawk Generations Scholarship is for KU legacy students with a qualifying family member who graduated from KU. It is available to eligible out-of-state freshmen who enroll at any time, and it cannot be combined with any other renewable KU scholarship.

Scholarship amount

  • Third tier - $12,963 per year
  • Second tier - $7,751 per year
  • First tier - $5,167 per year

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, students must have one of the following family members who graduated from KU:

  • parent
  • stepparent
  • grandparent
  • stepgrandparent
  • great-grandparent
  • stepgreat-grandparent
  • legal guardian

Third tier

Students must also have:

  • 3.5+ GPA/4.0, and
  • 28+ ACT (1310+ SAT)

Second tier

Students must also have:

  • 3.5+ GPA/4.0, and
  • 25+ ACT (1200+ SAT)

First tier

Students must also have:

  • 3.5+ GPA/4.0, and
  • 24+ ACT (1160+ SAT)

How to apply

There's no separate application for this scholarship — just submit your KU admission application by Nov. 1. Accepted students who meet all the criteria will receive the Jayhawk Generations Scholarship.

Renewal criteria

To be eligible for renewal, you must complete 30 KU hours and earn a cumulative 3.25 KU GPA.

*All references to SAT scores refer to math and evidence-based reading and writing from tests taken after March 2016. For tests taken before March 2016, please use this table to convert your score.
