for undergraduate transfers from out of state

Students are admitted to the Department of Teaching and Leadership Teacher Education Program once a year. All application materials are due by the deadline in late January for admission for the next academic year. The following are minimum requirements for all students applying to the Department of Teaching and Leadership Education Program:

To enter the School of Education program, a student must

  • 2.75+ GPA (for athletic training and health and physical education, 2.5+ GPA) and
  • 2.75+ GPA in prerequisites (2.5+ GPA for athletic training)

For teacher education programs, a student must

  • Pass the reading, writing, and math sections of the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST/Praxis 1)
  • Submit letters of recommendation and essays

Consult a pre-education adviser immediately upon entering KU.
