What is a Jayhawk Day?

Each Jayhawk Day includes:

  • An introduction to KU from an admissions representative including information about admission requirements, scholarships, and financial aid as well as an overview of KU’s top-ranked academic programs.
  • A one-hour walking tour of campus with a current KU student
  • Optional residence hall tours at 11:30 am and1:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday when classes are in session (meet at the KU Visitor Center)
  • Optional scholarship hall tours from 2-5 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,Friday and select Saturdays during the academic year (meet at the Crawford Community Center, 1346 Louisiana)

We provide parking and campus transportation. In the event of inclement weather, we may offer a shortened campus tour via bus. Please remember to dress appropriately for a walking tour and the ever-changing Kansas weather. Casual attire is fine.

What else can you do on your visit?

If you'd like to stay on campus longer, we’ll customize your visit. We can help you:

  • Meet with a faculty member or academic adviser (requires 10 days' notice; subject to availability)
  • Eat lunch at a KU residential dining facility
  • See Allen Fieldhouse and the Booth Family Hall of Athletics
  • Visit one of KU’s museums (closed on Mondays)
  • Discuss your completed FAFSA with a financial aid staff member
  • Visit the Ambler Student Recreation and Fitness Center
  • Learn about the KU Bands
  • Visit the Sabatini Multicultural Resource Center

Visit Dates

Registration for summer dates is now open. Registration for fall dates will be available in late summer.

Fall and spring visits

During the academic year, Jayhawk Days are generally:

  • Mondays and Fridays, 9-11:30 a.m. or 1-3:30 p.m.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9-11:30 a.m.
  • Select Saturdays (fall only), 9-11:30 a.m.
  • Please note that some options such as academic appointments are not available on Saturdays or during breaks when school is not in session. Wednesdays are reserved for high school groups of 25 or more.

    Summer visits

During summer session (June and July), Jayhawk Days are generally:

    • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 9-11:30 a.m.

KU faculty and advisers are often assisting with new student orientation programs during the summer. Therefore, individual academic appointments are limited. We will fill requests on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Break visits

Because we realize that your travel dates may be limited, we do offer a more basic Jayhawk Day visit between sessions (late May, early August, and winter break). On selected weeks between sessions, Jayhawk Days are generally:

    • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 9-11:30 a.m.

These visits include a presentation by an admissions representative and a campus tour only.
