Who should apply as a readmit?

Apply as a readmit if you attended KU, earned grades of A, B, C, D, F, WG, or I, and have been out one semester or more. There is no fee for the readmit application.

Apply as a transfer student if you have attended KU only as a nondegree seeking student and now want to apply as a degree-seeking student.

Apply as a freshman if you have attended KU only as a nondegree-seeking student while still in high school and now want to apply as a degree-seeking student.

Being readmitted

Students who want to return to the University of Kansas must file a readmit application. Students must account for their activity since leaving the university and provide official transcripts of any schools they have attended. Applicants may be readmitted if they left KU in good academic standing and are in good standing with all other institutions they have attended since their enrollment at KU. Applicants to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who were academically dismissed will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the College. Readmission is not guaranteed to students who left or were dismissed from KU.

You'll get an email when your application has been received in our office, but you can always check your admission status.

How readmits apply by mail

Download the readmission application (pdf), complete it, and mail it in. Do not submit both online and paper applications. Applying by mail takes longer than applying online.

Nondegree Deadlines

  • Spring: Jan. 7
  • Summer: May 24
  • Fall: Aug. 8

Nondegree-seeking students are limited to six credit hours per semester and generally do not receive financial aid or live in university housing. Courses taken as nondegree-seeking do not automatically apply toward a KU degree.

Apply as a nondegree-seeking student if

  • You are a student visiting from another college or university and want to transfer a KU course to your home institution
  • You are a high school student who plans to take a college-level course during high school
  • You are a person who is taking a class for personal enrichment but not to obtain a degree
