Understanding the codes

KU uses codes to designate how courses fulfill some graduation requirements. For example, the letter code H designates a course in the Humanities category. Please review the following list of codes before you access your school's transfer equivalency screen. For questions about how your transfer courses fit into a particular degree program at KU, contact the academic advisor for your major.

The KU Core stretches across the undergraduate experience, yielding fundamental skills, building a broad background of knowledge, generating capacities and opportunities for blending and creating ideas, strengthening an appreciation of cultural and global diversity, and cultivating ethical integrity.

Goals of the KU Core define the ambitions that the faculty, administration, and staff of the University of Kansas have for its graduates. Each of our six educational goals has one or more distinct learning outcomes.
