The University of Kansas has established a grant to cover the undergraduate admissions application fee for economically disadvantaged students. This fee grant program is subject to availability of funds. Applicants must submit the free grant application form with the signature of their high school counselor, program advisor or program liaison confirming the applicant's participation.
Fee grant eligibility
To be eligible for a fee grant, an applicant must meet one of the following requirements:
- Receive an ACT/SAT Fee Waiver
- Participate in the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program
- Participate in one of the Federal TRIO programs:
- Upward Bound
- Upward Bound Math & Science
- Talent Search
- LULAC
- Student Support Services
- Educational Opportunity Center
- Participate in Project Discovery
- Participate in GEAR UP
- Participate in 20/20 Leadership Program
- Participate in AVID
- Selected as a Kaufman Scholar
- Participate in ECO Program (Expanding College Opportunities)
How to apply for the fee grant
Online: When completing your online admission application, select the "Request a Fee Waiver" option on the payment page. Ask your counselor, advisor or liaison submit the Fee Grant Application (e-Form) on your behalf.
By mail: If you are submitting a paper application, please have your counselor, advisor or liaison submit the Fee Grant Application (e-Form) on your behalf.

Military fee waiver
The University of Kansas offers undergraduate admission application fee waivers for U.S. Veterans and active duty members of the U.S. Armed Services. In order to verify an applicant's veteran or military status, each applicant must submit a copy of their orders, AARTS, SMARTS or DD214 forms to the Office of Admissions. Copies can be emailed, faxed or mailed to the Office of Admissions.
