Deadlines for incoming U.S. freshmen

NOW

Start gathering materials needed to apply for KU admission and scholarships. Use a copy of your 9th through 11th grade transcripts (classes and grades) for reference.

Apply early for admission. No need to submit essays, letters of reference, or transcripts. You will be considered for scholarships, too.

Fall

Contract for student housing once admitted.

Search for outside scholarships at KU and at fastweb.com and finaid.org

You can take or retake the ACT/SAT and submit the score to KU. Our codes are 1470 for the ACT and 6871 for the SAT. Your last opportunity to take either test and be considered for KU scholarships is in December.

Use the Net Price Calculator to estimate financial aid and scholarship options.

Once admitted: Reserve your spot at KU by paying the enrollment deposit.

November

Nov. 1: To be considered for scholarships and the University Honors Program, submit a complete admission application by this deadline. (The honors application requires an essay; the KU application does not.)

Nov. 1: Scholarship hall first decision. If you want to know in December if you got into a scholarship hall, submit the required materials by this date.

January

Jan. 1: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) becomes available online. You must file this form to be considered for federal loans, grants, and Work-Study and some state and university aid.

Follow up your complete Nov. 1 application by sending us improved ACT or SAT scores, if any, or your seventh semester GPA.

February

Feb. 1: Deadline to submit improved ACT/SAT scores or updated seventh semester GPA for scholarship consideration. Admissions.ku.edu/update

Feb. 2: Sign up for orientation.

Deadline to report improved ACT/SAT scores for scholarship reconsideration.

March

March 1: Priority date to file the FAFSA to be eligible for limited funds from some programs. File earlier if you can. (You may still file the FAFSA after March 1, but awards may be smaller.)

March 1: Final deadline for scholarship hall materials. If you didn’t apply by Nov. 1, selection for a scholarship hall will take place in April.

Students who have signed housing contracts begin selecting rooms and roommates online.

Watch for information on formal recruitment dates for sororities and fraternities.

May
